“Hilarious heatstroke prevention measures for the Tokyo Olympics” 東京五輪「面白すぎ熱中症対策」

Oi, listen!
Are we ready for the anti-heat measures for the Tokyo Olympics?
Now it’s less than 1 year
until the Tokyo Olympics.
While the dress rehearsals were held,
there are athletes who have become sick
due to summer heat.
People in and outside Japan are concerned about heatstroke.
In fact, I checked what conditions are necessary for heatstroke to occur.
According to the WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) which is used to estimate heat stress, intense exercising must be stopped at temperatures above 31℃ and humidity above 71%. These are red alert levels and heatstroke could happen while doing any daily life activities.
The average temperature and humidity were 32.8 ℃ and 80% in Tokyo in August 2019.
That’s way above the red alert level.
There will be 11 thousand athletes, 100 thousand volunteers and 10 million visitors.
It’s crazy if you think people won’t get heatstroke.
If people get heatstroke and pass(gori) away(nju) at the Olympics(gorin), it’s not funny at all!
So, the anti-heat measures are a must.

Then, Mr. Yoshiro Mori, the head of the Tokyo Olympics said that it’s an opportunity for Japan to send our innovations out to the world.
He got enthusiastic about proposing new anti-heat measures and showing off Japan’s high technology.
I was really excited to see what kinds of measures he would take;
One of them was “We will line the streets with morning glory flowers.”
Is he kidding? “The temperature wouldn’t change, but visually it would be cooler.”
No, we don’t need morning-glory flowers! No way! Not visually, it has to be physical!
While the committee is having a meeting, their air conditioners will be taken and be told, “Here, morning glory, isn’t it cooler?”, they would go ballistic!
The athletes are coming to compete at the highest level. They do not have time to look at the morning glory and say “Oh, dear. Pretty morning glory. I feel cool.”
They are not madams who enjoy walking.
OK. I will meet them half way, but what are they going to do in the afternoon? The morning glory would wilt.
In that case, why don’t they innovate by making a new type of flower called “morning daytime night glory”, flowering all day by using Japanese technology.

Of course, there are lots of ideas like providing snow with artificial snow making machines, or using air conditioners to make the temperature freezing cold and opening the doors...
Is it an improv comedy show(大喜利大会)?
First of all, when Japan entered the bid for the Olympics, Japan had said that Japan has a mild climate so the athletes can have their best performance, The truth is the heat is at disaster level. Why did they lie about such a thing? Like when they said that they could control nuclear power plants, but actually they couldn’t. Having said that it would be a small Olympics with a budget of 700 billion yen, now it’s an extra-large Olympics with a 3 trillion yen budget.
If there is a Men’s Bigmouth Freestyle Competition, the champion will definitely be Japan! I think someone might say, “If you say so much nonsense, give an alternative plan?” I can definitely give you a good idea.
Do it in autumn. There will be another risk that can be avoided. Typhoons!
Like how the typhoon this year paralyzed city functions, if that happens during 2020, 10 million visitors would panic. An Olympic crisis will happen. Of course, I understand the Olympics has to be in summer because of the schedule of US broadcasters that pay lots of money for the right to broadcast. But didn’t they say this “Athletes first!” If they give broadcasters the priority, then it’s really “Money first!” They shouldn’t act counter to the spirit of “Athletes first”. If Japan could change the time of the year, isn’t that a real innovation for the Olympics?
